Botox

St.Rose Dental is proud to offer BOTOX® in addition to our comprehensive cosmetic treatments to aid in pain relief therapy.

A rising number of dentists are now providing botulinum toxin, otherwise known as BOTOX® to their patients, and why not? Dr. Campbell is well versed in facial anatomy and currently injects in much more vulnerable, difficult areas to reach. After studying under Dr. Solomon, a neuromuscular dentist with expertise in the muscles and nerves of the head, face and neck, Dr.Campbell is happy to offer this special therapeutic treatment to his patients.

BOTOX® Treatment was commonly known to treat cosmetic cases ridding of wrinkles on the forehead, frown lines and crows’ feet. But what most people don’t know is that BOTOX® has been proven to be an excellent product for therapeutic uses in dentistry.

What does therapeutic mean?

In short, it means healing, reparative, beneficial- the list goes on and on. In medical settings, like dentistry, it relates to the healing of disease and pain.

How is BOTOX® applied in dentistry?

Patients treated with therapeutic Botox® report a decrease in headaches, grinding and facial pain accompanied by a reduction in wrinkles of the areas treated.

These therapeutic procedures include:

  • Headaches
  • Facial pain
  • Bruxism/ Jaw clenching
  • TMD- Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
  • Overactive muscles

How does Botulinum Toxin, BOTOX®, work?

BOTOX® works by pausing the message nerves send to muscles that make them a contract, allowing muscles to temporarily relax. This can last for up to 3-6 months. Then the muscle returns to its full function and with no side effects whatsoever.

What will my BOTOX appointment look like?

After establishing you as a patient with a thorough dental examination and discussing your goals, the BOTOX® procedure can be done in 15-20 mins with little to no pain and no downtime or recovery necessary.

For health and skin safety what to do AFTER Botox?

After Botox and how you take care of your skin is very vital. Some activities you should and shouldn't do after getting Botox injections:

  • Don't touch your skin where the Botox was injected for 24 hours because you don't want to make the Botox spread to other unintended muscles.
  • Avoid high physical activity.
  • Avoid getting facials, chemical peels, etc. for 48 hours.
  • Avoid consuming large amounts of alcohol.
  • Avoid taking the blood thinning medications mentioned above.

Call St. Rose Dental Office at 702.387.5900 or seek medical attention if you experience any side effects or complications from the Botox treatment.
